Upholstery Cleaning
Sofa or a couch is a main furniture inside the house. When you have a guest aU very good sofa usually gets attention. If it is not clean with too much noticeable dust it can immediately imply an impression that the house in general is not well cleaned. From time to time it is wise to do upholstery steam cleaning to preserve it in good condition and pleasant to use.
Upholstery steam cleaning is not an ordinary cleaning task. Just like carpet cleaning the first step in upholstery cleaning is pre-treatment or pre-conditioning. You first have to pre-condition the fabric, and like carpet cleaning check first the pre-conditioner solution if it can cause fabric discoloration or not. When you are sure that the pre-conditioner will not cause discoloration on the fabric, you can spray it to pre-condition the fabric. Pre-conditioning will loosen the dirt in the fabric.
After pre-conditioning, shampooing the fabric follows. Use a shampoo specially made for upholstery cleaning or may also use a mild carpet cleaner. Scrub the shampoo in the fabric using a brush or a towel to agitate the solution until enough suds are created.
Steaming is next. Use a steam cleaner to remove the dirt, pre-conditioner, shampoo and water from the fabric. Remove as much water as possible and use a fan so that the fabric will dry faster. After drying, brush the fabric to give it a fresh appearance. If you want you may apply solvent-based fabric protector to your upholstery to protect it from dirt.
For microfibers, which even though stain resistant can also get dirty over time, you may also use the above steps but using a sponge instead of a scrub brush in agitating the shampoo. For a microsuede furniture it is recommended to hire professionals to do it.
